We quoted for a new garage door in Tenterden Kent. The customer had very specific needs. She wanted the new garage door to be black in colour and to match her existing front door. She also wanted the garage door to have windows to allow some light into her garage. The glass was obscure so the contents of her garage could not be seen. She also required lead lights on the garage door windows to match the lead lights on the windows of her house. We fitted a Wessex Canterbury garage door which matched all her requirements. This fibreglass (GRP) garage door was maintenance free, so will stay looking good for years to come.

Having just had a new drive laid, a customer in Oxted, Surrey wanted to brighten up the remainder of the front of her house. An old garage door can make a house look very tired. We called to the property to measure up and provide a free estimate. We left the customer some brochures so she could browse them at her leasure. She decided on a white Garador Cathedral garage door. This was supplied with its own steel frame so there was no more rotten timber to worry about.

We were called out to repair a garage door in Tenterden Kent. The customer was unable to close or fully open her garage door. The Garador Mk4 garage door has a spring on each side that runs within the metal leg of the frame. When the spring breaks it can jam the leg of the frame and prevent the garage door moving up or down. To solve the problem, the old spring was removed and a new garage door spring was fitted. Whilst it is not necessary to replace both garage door springs, it is often a good idea as it could save on a extra repair charge in the future.

Often the cables on these garage doors can be replaced without changing the plastic pulleys. Once the cables had been replaced, the spring was re-tensioned and all working parts were lubricated.

A Garador MK3C garage door in Tonbridge had broken a cable and made the garage door very heavy and awkward to lift. The garage door cables are used to lift the garage door and are directly connected to the garage door springs. The garage door springs are located in a metal “springbox” above the garage door. Replacing the garage door cables is a routine garage door repair and once replaced, the garage door will work as new. Whilst the garage door cables are being replaced, the remainder of the garage door is serviced and all working parts are lubricated.

A customer in Lewes East Sussex, was concerned that their roller shutter garage door was very noisy during operation. On removal of the top box that covers the shaft of the roller shutter, it was discovered that several of the straps securing the roller shutter to the shaft had broken. This was not only causing the noise but also affecting the safe operation of the roller shutter garage door. The broken straps were removed and new straps fitted and secured to the shaft. Now when the roller shutter was opened and closed it was much quieter.

The customer chose a simple, but effective vertical rib pattern and they were very happy with the effect once it was installed.

A customer requiring a garage door repair in Caterham Surrey contacted us, as they could not close their garage door. The cables on their Cardale garage door had become tangled and the anti-drop mechanism on the garage door was preventing the door from closing. As a safety mechanism the anti drop device clicks into the side track whenever the garage door cables go slack. This prevents the door falling from the fully open position and causing an accident. Once on site, the first job was to get the garage door down. Once down the cables were replaced and the garage door spring re-tensioned. When the cables are under tension the anti-drop mechanism works normally and the roller spindles move freely in the side tracks.

This garage door repair in Heathfield East Sussex involved a broken garage door wire on a Henderson Merlin garage door. The cables on either side of the garage door are connected to plastic cones. When the garage door is lifted the cable should be laid neatly along the grooves in the cone. The garage door cables are suseptable to breaking after years of continued use. The loop at the bottom of the cable, where it fits on the roller spindle, is partially exposed and can often rust, especially in coastal areas. In such areas it is often a good idea to replace the existing garage door cables with stainless steel garagedoor cables, which offer more resistance to the weather.
