Stanley Electric Garage Door Opener

The Stanley electric garage door opener was a very common electric motor that was installed around 20 years ago. Whilst there are no longer any new spare parts kept in stock we often salvage old electric garage door motors to use as spares. There are also many common faults with this electric garage door opener that can be resolved without replacement parts. One common fault that we were called out to repair on a garage door in Kent was where the garage door reversed as soon as it reached the close position. We have also replaced bent booms, broken carriage trolleys and replaced the plastic housing that the boom sits in above the garage door motor. Although many of the original hand transnitters are no longer available we have been able to fit new remote controls to this electric garage door opener.

Garage Door Repairs Hastings East Sussex

Garage Door Repair Hastings

This garage door repair in Hastings involved a very old Cardale garage door. It had a spring type that was unique to Cardale garage doors. Instead of one lock torsion spring above the garage door, this spring is contained within a round metal drum. Inside the drum is a flat metal clock type spring. Because the spring is largely concealed, it is very hard to lubricate and therefore lifting the garage door can be very jerky and very noisy. As this spring had broken internally, it could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. The original clock type spring is no longer available but an alternative from another manufacturer does the job admirally. Once fitted the spring lifts the garage door quietly and smoothly.

Cardale Garage Doors Repair Medway Kent

The garage door cable on a Cardale garage door in Medway Kent had broken and we had arranged to call to site to repair the cable. This was a Cardale compact garage door. It was a version of a canopy garage door that was fitted before Cardale introduced their version of the overhead torsion spring. This garage door was peculiar in the fact that the torsion spring run across the back of the garage door approximately 4′ below the top of the garage door. The cones and cables are at either end of the torsion spring and the cones actually replace the standard roller spindles and run up and down in the side tracks. The garage door cones and cables for this model are still available. As with the majority of garage door repairs, the cables on both sides were replaced, the garage door torsion spring was re-tensioned and all moving parts were lubricated.

A customer in Eastbourne East Sussex, was looking to replace their garage doors. After discussing their requirements, it was decided that the Hormann/Garador sectional garage door, was the garage door for the job. The client was finding their existing opening a little uncomfortable to drive through. By fitting the sectional garage door to the rear of their existing brickwork, the drive through width of the garage door was increased by a minimum of 6″, as the existing timber frame could be removed.

Hormann Garage Door Repair Paddock Wood Kent

A garage door repair in Paddock Wood Kent involved a Hormann garage door. Although the Hormann garage door is a strong, well made garage door it can also suffer from neglect or a lack of regular maintenance. On the garage door in question the garage door cables had become slack. This results in the anti-drop mechanism engaging which make the garage door difficult to close. When we arrived on site the garage door was stuck in a half open position. We managed to get the garage door closed and re-tension the cables. The spring was also re-tensioned and all working parts were lubricated.

Henderson Garage Doors Repair Hailsham East Sussex

On arrival to this site in Hailsham East Sussex, it was discovered that this garage door was not fully closed and tilting at an angle. The garage door cables had become tangled and were preventing the garage door from closing. This normally occurs because of a lack of regular maintenance and a loss of tension on the overhead garage door spring. We managed to get the garage door closed and replaced the Henderson garage door cables that had become twisted and damaged. The overhead garage door spring was re-tensioned and all working parts were lubricated. The garage door was left in good working order.

We were asked to fit a roller shutter garage door at a property in Tonbridge Kent. The customer had a very short drive and was fed up of moving their car to open their garage door. The vertically opening roller shutter garage door meant that the door could be opened without having to move the vehicle. The roller shutter garage door was finished in a golden oak colour to match the double glazed windows and front door.

Four Point Locking

This garage door in Bromley Kent had been subject to an attempted break-in. The panel had been bent and therefore needed to be replaced. Many of the new garage doors tend to be stronger than the older types as they have a box section, steel frame work. Most garage doors are now supplied with at least two points of locking. For a small extra charge garage doors can be supplied with four points of locking, that protect the vulnerable corners of the garage door. All new garage doors now have a seperate lock and handle as oppose to the older type doors that have a lock that is integral to the handle.

A customer in Haywards Heath West Sussex was looking for their existing double garage door to be automated. Although the garage door moved smoothly they were finding it a little difficult to open as they were getting older. As the garage door had tracks running parrallel to the ceiling, an electric garage door opener could be fitted without any modification. We fitted a Hormann Supra-Matic electric garage door opener and supplied the customer with 2No radio hand transmitters. We also fitted a bell push type push button adjacent to the rear access door. Garage Door Repairs Bexhill on Sea

The cables on a Henderson garage door had become tangled and the customer in Bexhill on Sea was having difficulty shutting the garage door. For security purposes the customer needed his garage door closed and cut the side cables to get the garage door down. On arrival on site we had to replace the existing Henderson cones & cables with new ones. The overhead garage door spring was also re-tensioned, as this was the main cause of the cables tangling. A general service to the garage door was also undertaken which included lubricating all working parts.
